said she and Commissioner Carbone would work on the BLM fence this weekend and four more people had volunteered. She thanked Rent To Go for donating the post pounder.

Ms. Okawa

told the voters they had a responsibility to be informed about who was on the ballot and what issues were on the ballot. As for mail-in ballots, Ms. Okawa said love them or hate them in 2021 a law was passed and every registered voter in Nevada was sent a mail-in ballot unless the voter requested to opt out. If a voter received a mail-in ballot and did not want one, she told them to not call the Clerks Office and scream and swear at them, and do not come to the polls and take it out on the poll workers. They should do the responsible thing and opt out by filling out a form which was readily available on-line at nvsos.gov, at the Clerk’s Office, and at the polls. As to paper ballots versus machines, Ms. Okawa stated the voter had the right to use a machine to vote at the polls if they wanted to, but they had to tell the poll worker at the time they checked that they wanted to do that. If people wanted to see more machines at the polls, they should let the Commissioners know as they were the people who made the decision to go to all paper ballots. Ms. Okawa said there were many people who wanted to change their party, which was easily done at check-in at the poiis, but it was the voters responsibility to let the poll worker know that they wanted to do that and to make sure when they checked in that all the information on the screen was correct before they completed their check-in and received their ballot as once the voter received their ballot that was the ballot they had. Ms. Okawa said these were just a few of the issues that they faced inside the polls and she heard it was worse outside. She said there was one woman who had been a poii worker for 16 years who said she did know if she would return in November, and that was echoed by several other poll workers. Sharon Cruise said she had the privilege of voting early and it was almost flawless. She said she signed in and had to go to another person to get her ballot, which she found a bit redundant. Ms. Cruise was also concerned about five or six workers checking people in and only one person handing out ballots. She thought it should go back to the June 21, 2024 - — returns of the Primary Election held on June 11, 2024. way it was done before where the voter signed in and received their ballot at the same time. Con Freidhof explained there had always been two people checking out the ballots and that was done for ballot control. She thought Ms. Okawa made some great points and

hoped people really listened. The poll workers took a lot of abuse and she applauded them for keeping calm. As to background checks, she advised that needed to start at a higher level than the County as bills needed to be passed through the Legislature.

Commissioner Boskovich

thanked Ms. Freidhof and her team for the great work they did.

Commissioner Carbone

agreed with background checks and suggested mentioning that to NACO to see if it was something they wanted to do.

Commissioner Strickland

asked for the percentage of the turnout.

Ms. Freidhof

said it 34.1% this time. The primary in 2022 was 39% because all of the local races were on that ballot. She believed the general would be huge.

Commissioner Carbone

said what the DMV was doing was still an issue and had been brought up more than one time.

said she would speak to the Governor about it.

Commissioner Cox

said she agreed with felony background checks for candidates and felt they should be done when a candidate signed up. However, if a felon had done their time there was a very good possibility that they would be allowed to be on the ballot as they may get their rights back. She noted prisoners were now allowed to vote while in jail so things were changing and if people did not like the way things were going they had to go to the State Legislature.

also agreed with background checks and said he would speak with the County’s assemblyman about it.
